WHOOOSSHHH! Sorry about the HUGE absence; school and theater seemed to have taken over my life. But now that I am in Summer Stock hell (for all those who understand my pain) I have acquired a lot of need to escape my current situation–AND what a better to do that than with my X-Blog!
Well I’ll sum up everything that has happened recently in the X-Verse so that my posts to come will tie in nicely. So we shall begin with Necrosha.
So Necrosha had a pretty nice plot line–nothing too amazing, but entertaining. I was originally excited about this because I thought maybe the X-Gene, or at least the reanimated mutants, would retain their powers, but alas this was not the case. Only a select few of the zombified mutants retained their powers, much like the ones living. Also, I was hoping the newly reanimated would remain animated, but that was also not the case–minus Douglas Ramsey, aka Cypher. The plot was pretty linear, no one really was changed forever (minus Cypher being left alive), and for the most part life as the X-Men know it was relatively unchanged. However, this story arch gave the New Mutants and X-Force a little more game time and it showed that these covers work well–especially New Mutants. However, in the wake of Utopia, Necrosha seemed to just fade away with a rather anticlimactic death of Selene, who probably won’t remain dead for long.
I’d say, read it them. The story is pretty solid, it has a lot of exciting elements, and you get to see a lot of those mutants you’d never expect to see again. Overall I give the Necrosha plot line a 3.8/5. Not completely a four because nothing major impacted the X-Verse, but not completely a three because it did have some awesome elements in it.

While I am entirely too lazy to recap all the awesomeness that it happening within the Necrosha arch so far, I will give you all the lowdown on whose back from the grave. While this plotline could have easily been Marvel trying to milk the popularity from Marvel Zombies, the writers have skillfully create this plot so that it has inherited something new to it that arcs like The Blackest Night (DC) and Marvel Zombies miss out on.
Also, while House of M was an amazing story that truly brought together Marvel and unified it into what it is today, I never liked the retcon off all those mutants. That was the glory of X-Men, that anyone could be one. But thanks to the psychotic bitch Scarlet Witch it went to 198 (though Marvel rarely has stuck to that). It’s just the principle. However, with the resurrection of so many mutants, and early scans of issues after Necrosha, I’ve made the assumption that many of the resurrection TO virus mutants are going to stay among the living after this arch–or at least Douglas Ramsey (AKA Cypher) is. Cross your fingers that the dwindling mutant population is saved by the very woman who tried to sacrifice them for her own selfish ways.

Necrosha! How I love thee. This is truly an amazing, and I could careless if it’s like DC’s Blackest Night series–because ya know what, I’m never going to read that series anyway so XP.
Necrosha is really a great story line so far, I absolutely love what Marvel has cooking with Selene, the TO virus, and not to mention the dead! Guh, there is so much in this series that is bent on changing the world of X-Men so much, and I love it.
After the effects of the Utopia crossover, the X-Men have barely gotten a break. The the seeds of this plot-line have been planted long in the making, and with the emergance of the new X-Force series back in 2008 and the appearance of the mysterious character Eli Bard, we X-Readers knew something was up. I love how in this issue we get a glimpse of Selene’s vague past, as well as the gist of her dark plot against all those that have wronged her. Here we see her deadly gang of death derived mutants: Blink (death by teleportation), Mortis (death by energy feild), Senyaka (death by psionic whips), Wither (death by touch), Eliphas (death by vampirism). This ragtag group of deathbringers is not only omnious but also kick-ass, this is going to be such an awesome arch not to mention the epic battles that are going to reign from this team being pitted against the X-Men’s finest.
The general plot-line for this story is Selene is pissed at all those who have promised her power and failed, so she has finally taken things into her own hands and plans on succeeding into becoming a Goddess. With the help of the cursed Eliphas (Eli Bard) and his TO virus, they plan on resurrecting deceased mutants and using them as Selene’s army then eventual as sacrifices to make Selene a Goddess. Pretty epic, right? Well that is just the tip of the iceberg, by enlisting the help of the dead mutant Calaban, Selene was led right to the destroyed nation of Genosha and reserrected all 16 million dead mutants (Which is tecnically in X-Force #21). Epic. Epic. Epic.

- John Alleroyce AKA Pyro
